Start a chapter on the page you are looking at
A reader on a Kindle or Kobo wants a table of contents that lands on the real first page of each chapter. Today MangaConverter takes chapter starts as page numbers typed into the Metadata tab, which works, but nobody remembers that chapter three starts on page 41. The planned verb lives in the Pages tab: select the page, choose Start a chapter here, type a title, done. We are being straight with you: it is not live yet, so this page does not offer it.
What the Pages tab does today: every page of the open file as a grid of thumbnails, with remove, restore and set as cover on each page. Chapters typed in the Metadata tab already reach the output as real bookmarks, so the table of contents is not waiting on this feature, only the easier way to build it is.
Starting a chapter from a page is coming soon
This feature is planned, not live yet. Add chapters by page number in the Metadata tab in the meantime.

Pick the page by looking at it
The page menu opens on a single tap. Start a chapter here is one of its rows, so the chapter begins on the page you can see, not on a number you had to look up.
Name it in place
One field for the title. The marker draws above the page while you type, so the grid shows where every chapter begins.
One list, two views
The Metadata tab and the Pages tab will show the same chapter list, so a chapter added in one place is visible in the other and the two can never disagree.
Survive a removed page
Chapter markers will follow the page they were placed on, so removing an earlier page keeps every later chapter on the right page in the output.
Honesty first
A chapter that lands one page early is worse than no chapter. The verb arrives here when markers survive every edit the Pages tab can make, and not before.
The Pages tab helps now
Remove, restore and set as cover are live on every page. Chapters by page number are live in the Metadata tab.
Frequently asked questions
Can I start a chapter from the Pages tab right now?
Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. The row is in the page menu, marked Soon, so you can see where it will be. Chapters can be added today in the Metadata tab by page number.
Do chapters reach my e-reader?
Yes, today. Chapter starts are written into the converted file as bookmarks, and the reader builds its table of contents from them. This feature changes how you pick the page, not what ships.
What happens to a chapter if I remove a page before it?
Today a chapter is stored as a page number, so removing an earlier page can shift later chapters by one. The planned feature anchors markers to the page itself, which fixes that for the Metadata tab as well.
Will you announce when it is ready?
Yes. When it ships the Soon mark comes off the row and this page hosts the feature. You can vote for it on the roadmap in the meantime.
MangaConverter runs on Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), the open-source engine, for the conversions that are live today. Chapter markers become the bookmarks KCC turns into navigation, and this page will host the page-based way of setting them once it works.
