Rotate the one scan that came in sideways

Most volumes have one page that was scanned on its side: a fold-out, a map, a page the scanner fed the wrong way. Today the only rotation the pipeline offers turns the first page and nothing else. The planned verb sits in the Pages tab menu: select the page, choose Rotate, pick a quarter or a half turn, and only that page changes. We are being straight with you: it is not live yet, so this page does not offer it.

What the Pages tab does today: every page of the open file as a grid of thumbnails, with remove, restore and set as cover on each page. A sideways page can be removed if it is filler; if it is story, it ships as is until this verb lands.

Rotating a single page is coming soon

This feature is planned, not live yet. Convert with the live preview in the meantime.

What rotating a page will do

  1. Turn one page, not the book

The rotation applies to the page you selected. Every other page keeps its orientation, which is the difference from a whole-file setting.

  2. A quarter or a half turn

Ninety degrees for a scan fed sideways, a half turn for one fed upside down. The thumbnail in the grid shows the result before you convert.

  3. Done before the converter sees it

The page is rotated in the step that already unpacks the archive for page removal, so the converter receives a page that is simply the right way up.

  4. Until then: remove or accept

A rotated filler page can be removed today from the Pages tab. A rotated story page ships as it is until this verb arrives.

Honesty first

A rotation that applied to the wrong page, or to every page, would be worse than none. The verb ships when the page you picked is verifiably the page that turns.

The Pages tab helps now

Remove, restore and set as cover are live on every page, and the live preview shows every page before you convert.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate a page here right now?

Not yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. The row is in the page menu, marked Soon, so you can see where it will be. Remove, restore and set as cover are live on every page.

Is there any rotation today?

The converter can rotate the first page of a file as a whole-file option, which covers a sideways cover and nothing else. Per-page rotation is what this feature adds.

Will rotating a page change its quality?

A quarter or half turn moves pixels without resampling them, so the page keeps every detail it had. Only the orientation changes.

Will you announce when it is ready?

Yes. When it ships the Soon mark comes off the row and this page hosts the feature. You can vote for it on the roadmap in the meantime.

MangaConverter runs on Kindle Comic Converter (KCC), the open-source engine, for the conversions that are live today. Per-page rotation is a planned step in front of that pipeline, and this page will host it honestly once it works.
